Homepage of the Assistive Robotics Lab at Virginia Tech, directed by Prof. Alan Asbeck
Our systems are designed for people who are disabled, require rehabilitation, or are in good physical condition.
Our goal is to help people to regain capabilities they have lost, or enable people to perform feats that were not previously possible.
Our research interests include:
designing human interfaces for mechanical and electrical systems,
developing novel, high-efficiency actuators and transmissions,
understanding human biomechanics and the body’s internal control strategy, and
creating sensors and control systems so that assistive devices can work with the body.
